If you are reading this, I assume you have recently experienced an emotional and physical personal loss and my condolences go out to you and your family. Having chosen cremation for your loved one, a question you now face is what to do with the cremation remains. An urn, burial and open air distribution are the most common choices. A Memorial painting requires only a fraction of the cremains and thus
does not interfere with any plans to display, honor or distribute the ashes. The amount of cremains required for a painting depends on the size of the canvas. A tiny amount of cremains is mixed into every color on the palette and is applied with each brush stroke. Generally, we should allow two ounces by volume per each square foot of canvasarea. Therefore, an 18x24 canvas would require six ounces of cremains. I will handle the cremains of your loved ones with the same respect and dignity as I have those of my parents. I will return any unused material at the completion of the painting. The U.S. Postal Service allows the mailing of cremains in a sift
proof container that is shipped inside a durable outer container. The package must be sent as registered mail with return receipt services. Fed Ex and UPS do not allow for the shipment of cremains. |
